[S]ue Hayman, Member of Parliament for Workington, has been appointed Labour’s Shadow Minister for Flooding and Coastal Communities by Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
As part of Labour’s Shadow Environment team, Sue will be working with Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Rachael Maskell MP, and Shadow Minister for Farming and Rural Communities, Mary Glindon MP.
Sue said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed as Shadow Minister for Flooding and Coastal Communities in Labour’s DEFRA frontbench team. My responsibilities also include National Parks, as well as rivers, marine zones, and fisheries.
“All these issues are of real importance to my constituents in West Cumbria, as well as to the country, and I will be working hard to make our voice heard and to hold the government to account.
“In particular, we need action to help people and businesses at risk of flooding, and I plan to take the fight to the government on this in the months ahead.”
