An annual charity golf day has raised over £9,000 to help the care, support and activities provided at Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice.
On Friday 9 September, golfers from the local community took part in the annual Royal Oak Scotby Golf Day in aid of the hospice. This year’s event raised £9,360 as fundraisers enjoyed a round of golf, meal, raffle and auction at the Royal Oak. The amount raised in aid of Eden Valley Hospice in a culmination of a number of fundraising events held throughout the year and bring the total raised for the local charity since 2002 to over £71,545.
The organisers would like to thank all of the local businesses and people who support the event each year, including a special thanks to our main sponsors Carwhinley Cars and Appletons of Carlisle, and Fred Holliday for his birthday gift donations, along with everybody who took pas or made a donation.
The money raised will be used to purchase a wide range of items from the Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw wish list, including arts and crafts cupboards, a rise and recline chair, a stand aid, plus much more.
Year on year it costs the local charity over £3.7 million to provide the care, support and activities to local adults and children with life limiting illnesses. Approximately 28% of the funding is received from the NHS with the remaining £2million raised by the kindness support and generosity of the local community.
