Two arrested after man, 20, dies in A69 crash

[P]olice investigating a fatal collision on the A69 in the early hours of Wednesday, October 19, can now confirm that the driver who died is a 20-year-old man.

It happened at 1.13am on Wednesday, October 19, when a vehicle overturned, one mile east of the Bridge End Roundabout at Hexham.

Two people have now been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, a man aged 27 and a woman aged 21, they have both been detained in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Police would like to hear from anyone who may have seen a Vauxhall Astra and a Renault Clio car being driven around the A69 or Hexham town centre yesterday evening and in the early hours of Wednesday morning before the collision.

Police are appealing for witnesses and want anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident or who has any information which could assist their investigation to contact them on 101 quoting reference 38 19/10/16.

Please note we are not yet able to name the deceased as relatives are still being informed.
