Carlisle Flood Support and Awareness events

[T]wo Carlisle Flood Support and Awareness events will be held on Tuesday 25 October.

Organised by Carlisle City Council and partners, the events will be held between 1.30pm and 4pm at Greystone Community Centre, Close Street and between 5pm and 7pm at Foxy’s Lounge, Carlisle United Football Club, Warwick Road.

Flood affected residents and businesses will be able to get free advice from flood specialists, plus information on flood resilience products and funding opportunities.

Agencies in attendance will include:

  • Carlisle Flood Action Group
  • Carlisle Flood Advice Centre
  • Citizens Advice Bureau
  • Cumbria Action for Sustainability

  • Cumbria County Council
  • Cumbria Emergency Response Team (UK)
  • Environment Agency
  • FloodRe insurance
  • Newground

Leader of Carlisle City Council, Cllr Colin Glover, said: “The events will be a great opportunity to meet flood specialists and find out what flood funding is available for residents and businesses. There will also be information on flood resilience products, plus advice on Property Resilience Grants. Please call in and find out what support is available.”

Property Resilience grants of up to £5,000 are available to homeowners and businesses that were flooded over 3rd-11th December 2015 or 24th-28th December 2015 to help fund additional flood resilience or resistance measures for homes and businesses. The end date for applications for both residential and business property applications is Saturday 31 December 2016.
