[T]he family of a woman who died following a road traffic collision have paid tribute to her life.

Audrey Tunstall, aged 79, of Cape Road, Seaton, died following injuries suffered in a collision with a Volkswagen Passat on the A596 at Dunmail Park shopping centre on Saturday evening.

Audrey was with her friend at the time who was also injured in the collision. She is currently at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in a critical condition.

Audrey’s family said: “Audrey at 79 was still an elegant lady who faced life to the full. Many local people who knew Audrey commented on her smile, cheery words and that she was known to help anybody if and when needed and was a good friend to many people.

“This tragedy has left behind a heartbroken loving son, two sisters and their respective families.

“Audrey was close to the friend she was with at the time of the collision and as Audrey’s family our thoughts are with her and her family.

“We are receiving many cards and flowers and would like to thank everybody.”
