[C]oast presenter Miranda Krestovnikoff tops the bill at the Solway Coast AONB and Solway Firth Partnership Joint Conference on Friday 25 November.

The joint Solway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and Solway Firth Partnership (SFP) will be held on Friday 25 November at Smiths Hotel, Gretna Green, and all are welcome to book a place.

A range of fascination and thought provoking topics from both sides of the Solway are on the programme, and all things coastal and marine will be the order of the day.  Both the AONB and SFP promote care and understanding of the Solway Firth as well as encouraging integration between all of its various interests.

The day will include contributions from both sides of the Solway: Marine Scotland, the Marine Management Organisation, local energy companies, EON and the Solway Energy Gateway to name just a few. Other presentation and discussion sessions will focus on marine conservation and the fascinating history of people’s memories and place names around the coast.

The highlight of the day will be a talk by Miranda Krestovnikoff who will talk about Our Coast from her own experience of having visited most of the UK’s coast during her filming career.  Miranda is also a keen diver and has a passion for wildlife and the natural world, along with a desire to connect people with the outdoors.

Brian Irving, Manager of the Solway Coast AONB said: “We are delighted to be running another joint conference with Solway Firth Partnership.  Together we are able to bring an amazing variety of subjects and issues to the day and hope that everyone who attends leaves knowing something new about their local coastline!”

Clair McFarlan, Solway Firth Partnership Manager said: “We are really excited to welcome a fantastic range of speakers to Gretna Green including Miranda Krestovnikoff who will provide a great finale to the day. There is a great range of topics being covered and plenty to stimulate debate about the Solway.”

The event is free of charge and includes a buffet lunch but places are limited so book quickly! To book your place, contact Solway Firth Partnership on 01387 702161 or e-mail [email protected]  by 15 November.
