Carlisle duo deny kidnapping and robbery charges

[A] MAN and woman from Carlisle have appeared in court to face a kidnapping charge.

Anthony Lee McAllister, 30, Claire Nicola Boswell, 34, each denied the allegation during a short hearing at the city’s crown court today (MON).

Both appeared from custody – McAllister in the court dock and Boswell via a video link from Low Newton prison.

They pleaded not guilty to allegations that they kidnapped David Robert Purdie, and also robbed him of a quantity of cash. Each of those alleged offences is said to have occurred on 30th September this year.

In addition, Boswell, of Petteril Terrace, Carlisle, denied assaulting Mr Purdie by beating on 1st October.

She and McAllister, of Caldbeck Road, Carlisle, were told that their trial would take place at the crown court on the week of 9th January. This is expected to last three days.

In the meantime both were remanded in custody by Judge Peter Davies.
