Police officer denies Appleby assault

[A] Cumbria Police officer has appeared before District Judge Gerald Chalk sitting at the city’s magistrates court.

Lindsay William Clark, 52, gave his address as Bolton Low Houses, Wigton.

He pleaded not-guilty to a charge that he allegedly assaulted Karen Maskall in Appleby on June 4, 2016.

The judge said a trial will be held at Carlisle Magistrates Court possibly early next year.

Clark was on duty at the time of the alleged assault, he was granted unconditional bail until the trial.
