Baby boy flown to hospital in Newcastle

hems gnaas[T]he Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to help an 11-month-old baby near to Armathwaite, Cumbria, at around 12pm today.

The GNAAS doctor-led team treated the baby boy for a head injury before he was flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary within 15 minutes where he arrived in a stable condition.

Earlier, GNAAS attended a two-vehicle crash at Kielder in Northumberland after reports of people trapped.

At the scene, the aircrew doctor and paramedic gave medical treatment to a female driver while Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service worked to cut her free from the wreckage. She had suffered injuries to her leg, pelvis and chest.

Once released, the patient was flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary within 15 minutes where she arrived in a critical condition.

GNAAS worked alongside North East Ambulance Service.
