[C]arlisle City Council is urging Castle ward residents to make their mark and take up their right to vote at tomorrow’s (24 November) Carlisle City Council By Election.
Preparations are now well underway for the By Election. Poll cards have been sent to all eligible voters. All polling stations open at 7am and close at 10pm. Voters who have requested a postal vote are also reminded to send in their vote.
Jason Gooding, Carlisle City Council’s Town Clerk & Chief Executive, said:
“We want as many voters as possible to come out and make their mark. Local government provides a wide-range of services to residents and elections allow them the opportunity to have their say.”
The By Election will be held on Thursday, 24 November. One seat will be contested.
The first ballot boxes are expected to arrive soon after the polling stations close at 10pm. The count and the declaration of results will take place at the Civic Centre. The proceedings will start shortly after 10pm.
The five polling stations are: Newtown School (entrance from Raffles Avenue); West End Temperance Hall, Caldewgate, (entrance from Hawick Street); Methodist Church Hall, Wigton Road; Christian Science Church and Reading Room, Victoria Place; and St Cuthbert’s Court, Myddleton Street.
