At 3pm today, 27 November the North West Ambulance Service, Wasdale MRT, Coastguard SAR and Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) were called to a man in his 60s who had fallen around 300ft in the hills around the area of Great Gable.

A spokesman for GNAAS said: “Once the patient was located the GNAAS crew worked alongside Wasdale MRT and the SAR Winchman to assess, treat and prepare the patient for transport to hospital.

“They were then winched from the hillside by Coastguard SAR and flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.”

His condition is described as non life-threatening.
