Experience a magical Christmas at Whinlatter Forest

santa-approved-christmas-trees-at-whinlatter-forest[E]scape the shops, wrap up warm, enjoy the Christmassy scent of pine trees, and get into the festive spirit this year at Whinlatter Forest.

As experts in trees, Santa has given Forestry Commission England Christmas trees his 100% stamp of approval and has sent his top elves into our forests to seek an amazing real Christmas tree for his home.

From 1 December, you can join the elves on their quest to find Santa’s perfect tree and take part in our Christmas tree trail at Whinlatter. The trail has lots of fun Christmas activities for the family to enjoy – from building mini homes for the elves to making natural decorations for your tree when you get home. It’s also at 14 other Forestry Commission sites across England, including Grizedale Forest, near Hawkshead.

Santa Approved real Christmas trees are available directly from Whinlatter Forest, with sales opening on 1 December and continuing until 18 December, or while stocks last.  All trees come with a free sapling and a 100% Santa Approved certificate which includes some fun activities for all to enjoy.  There’s also free parking for anyone buying a tree.

There’ll even be special visit from Santa himself, who will be at Siskins Cafe on the morning of Sunday 4 December. Join him for breakfast, 10-11.30am, booking essential on 01768778410.

There are other activities at Whinlatter to help make it a magical day out in the forest, with Christmas crafts on the weekends of 3 and 4 December, and 10 and 11 December, delicious Christmas food at Siskins Café and an all new “elfy-selfie” scene to record the memories of your festive day out!

And if you’re looking for a more unusual Christmas present this year, give the gift of the Forest with a Discovery Pass annual membership. There’s a special Discovery Pass offer to buy a joint Whinlatter and Grizedale Forest pass for the price of a single pass, saving £10 and giving you free parking in both forests for a full year as well as a range of other offers. Offer available throughout the tree sales period. Alternatively, there are concert tickets from our ‘live music in unique locations’
