[D]rivers in Carlisle City Centre experiences delays earlier today when at around 12.45pm a lorry and trailer loaded with straw travelling north on Georgian Way struck the overhanging branches of a tree, causing its load to shift.

No bales were dislodged fully from the trailer but the load was seen to be leaning at a sharp angle.

Cumbria Police attended the scene and supervised the driver in re-securing his load, which with one lane of Georgian Way blocked caused traffic to back up onto Victoria Place.

The road appeared to be running normally by around 1.30pm.
