Man, 85, dies in hospital after A590 crash

[P]OLICE are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the southbound exit slip road leading from the A590 to Brettargh Holt roundabout.

The collision happened at around 5.15pm on Tuesday, 12 December 2016.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “An 85-year-old man from the Milnthorpe area was taken by ambulance to the Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries, he has since died.

“A specially trained officer is currently assisting the family at this time.

“Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have been in the area of Brettargh Holt or the A590 from Kendal to contact the Operational Support Unit on 101 and quote log number 183 of the 13 December.

“We are now in a position to formally release his identity as Frank Rockliffe, 85, from Ackenthwaite in Milnthorpe.”
