Workington rape suspects released on police bail

[T]he four teenagers arrested on suspicion of rape following an incident in the Cloffocks area of Workington have been bailed whilst officers continue their investigation.

The offence is alleged to have occurred on a grassed area near Cloffocks car park in Workington at some time between 7pm and 7.20pm on Tuesday 3 January 2017.

Three 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old – all from the local area – were arrested on suspicion of rape on Wednesday (4 January 2017).

One of the 13-year-olds was yesterday (5 Jan) released without charge.

Officers arrested a second 14-year-old from the local area yesterday (5 Jan) – he is one of the four teenagers bailed overnight.

The four have been released on police bail until 21 February.

The four on bail are two 13-year-olds and two 14-year-olds.
