[A] Brampton man has been jailed for three years and six months for indecent image offences.

Neil Cameron McIntosh, aged 51, of Stanley Road, Brampton, was sentenced today (13th January 2017) at Carlisle Crown Court.

McIntosh was sentenced for possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children and also possessing extreme pornographic images, including portraying an indecent act a dog.

McIntosh has also been placed on the sexual offender register indefinitely and received indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).

Officers found McIntosh to be in possession of almost 3,000 indecent images which fell into categories A to C – with A being the most serious.

The offences occurred between July 2014 and April 2016 on a number of devices and all took place in Brampton.

Detective Inspector Jenny Beattie, Digital Media Investigation Unit, said: “This sentence will hopefully act as a deterrent to those who view and distribute illegal images.

“We will continue to prosecute those who abuse children by engaging in this sort of behaviour.

“We encourage anyone who has any suspicions of any sort of abuse to contact us so we can investigate. By doing this we can continue to protect children by bringing offenders to justice.”
