[A] woman reported missing from the Rockcliffe area yesterday has been found by search dogs after a major multi-agency search at Wetheral.

Fiona Hodgson, 42, was last seen at lunchtime Monday when she left work in the Carleton area of Carlisle.  Her car, a black Ford Focus, was found in Wetheral Monday evening.

A spokesman for CGOC Belfast Coastguard said: “Yesterday evening at 2032 we received a call from Cumbria Police requesting assistance to search for a missing female in the Wetheral area.

“Burgh-by-Sands Coastguard Rescue Team, Annan Coastguard Rescue Team, Maryport Coastguard Rescue Team & Maryport Inshore Rescue were tasked.

“Also on scene were police search dogs and air support.

“After an extensive search, the female was found by a search dog, well within our search area, and transported to hospital.

“Another great example of multi agency working, saving lives.”

Cumbria Police said: “Fiona was found in the early hours of this morning and taken to hospital.

“Thank you to everyone who assisted with the appeal.”
