Driver trapped after van hits tree on A595

[A]t 6:21pm yesterday, Monday 23 January firefighters were called to a road traffic collision on the A595 at High Cross Brow, Broughton-in-Furness.

One casualty was trapped in a van which had hit a tree.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “The crews stabilised the vehicle and released the casualty, a man, using cutting gear.

“Because the van was in a precarious position they needed to use a winch to stabilise the area to keep working conditions safe.

“They were at the scene for around one hour.”
