Penrith man admits assaulting girl, 15, in Carlisle

[A] MAN has appeared at Carlisle Crown Court and admitted an assault on a teenager.

Paul Robert Nicholson, 26, pleaded guilty today (TUES) to assaulting the 15-year-old, causing her actual bodily harm.

This follows an incident in Carlisle on 26th July last year.

Nicholson made his appearance at the crown court, in front of Judge Peter Davies, on a video link from custody.

A request was made by Brendan Burke, defending, for Nicholson to be sentenced immediately.

The defendant, said Mr Burke, was keen to know his fate “as soon as possible”.

However, Judge Davies said there was insufficient time for that to take place on the day. This was because the prison video link facilities were “limited” due to another commitment.

Nicholson, of Bath Terrace, Penrith, was told he would instead receive his punishment for the offence at the crown court on a date to be fixed.

In the meantime he was remanded in custody by Judge Davies.
