Egremont man accused of sex assaults on teenage girls goes on trial

[A] MAN accused of sexually assaulting three teenage girls has gone on trial at Carlisle Crown Court.

Mohammed Waris Ali, 46, faces a total of seven sexual assault allegations. He has pleaded not guilty to all of the charges, which relate to three different victims and cover a period between 2014 and 2016.

On day one of the trial today (WED), one of the girls told the jury: “He grabbed me and hugged me and kissed me on the cheek.” She stated she did not want him to do that.

A second girl alleged Ali, in a separate incident, had “grabbed” her bottom

“I just felt uncomfortable,” she said while giving evidence. “I couldn’t quite believe it.”

It was further alleged that Ali, of North Road, Egremont, had touched another teenager’s bottom and breast.

But when interviewed by police, the court heard, Ali denied that any sexual activity had taken place.

The trial continues.
