AN ex-soldier who produced a knife and wounded his next door neighbour during a scuffle has been jailed.
Drunken Antony Aiken, 37, turned violent after being invited by Sheree Graham to her house party in Maryport.
After an incident inside the property, on September 17, Aiken left but then loitered on the front doorstep. He struggled with Miss Graham and produced a Stanley knife which she eventually seized from him – but in the process she suffered five minor wounds to her forearm.
Aiken was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court having admitted an actual bodily harm assault and possessing a bladed article.
He saw service on the frontline in the Middle East during six years with the Royal Irish Regiment, the court heard, and now had mental health issues.
However, Judge Peter Davies noted he also had previous convictions for assault and disorder, and jailed him for 10 months.
“Any offence with a knife in a public place must be custody,” he told Aiken, of Ellenfoot Drive, Maryport.
