The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called to Keswick at around 3.50pm yesterday, after a request for assistance from a BASICS doctor and North West Ambulance Service.

The patient, a man in his 50s and from the Darlington area, was suffering from a medical condition.

The doctor-led team put the man into an induced coma before he was flown to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary within 20 minutes.

He arrived in a stable condition.
