[T]op business leaders from Cumbria have been shortlisted in this year’s prestigious Director of the Year Awards including Sue Coulson from Windermere’s Coulson Associates.

The annual ceremony, which is held by the regional branch of the Institute of Directors is renowned and respected for recognising the incredible achievements of business leaders across the North West over the past twelve months. Placing emphasis on individual excellence and achievement, the awards celebrate the region’s top bosses with the shortlist including international, well-established brands as well as innovative business start-ups.

Sue Coulson has been shortlisted within the director of the year (small company) category whilst her Windermere neighbour, Impact International’s David Williams has also reached the final director of the year (medium company) section. They are joined by Ross McMahon of Kendal Nutricare who has been shortlisted in both the director of the year (medium company) and start up director of the year categories.

The IOD Director of the Year awards champions those who provide inspiration for the next generation of entrepreneurs and business leaders in the region. The shortlist includes representatives who make the region’s economy so diverse; from construction, professional services, travel, pharmaceutical research and marketing to a zoo!

Claire Ebrey, NW Regional Director at the Institute of Directors said: “The awards are a public recognition of the key role that directors play, not only in our region’s economy but also in job preservation and creation.
