[C]ustomers of Virgin Media and EE networks have been left without a connection across the north west of England and South Scotland.
A spokesperson from Virgin Media confirmed that telecommunications firm EE had cut two major cables connecting the north west of England and south of Scotland as far up as Dumfries.
It is known that all customers with Virgin Media are currently cut off in Cumbria both broadband and TV services.
One of virgin media’s main cables was damaged along with a cable belonging to EE.
Repairs are expected to take until 10am tomorrow morning.
