Dog rescued from Distington house blaze

[A]t 12:03am today, Tuesday 7 March firefighters were called to a house on fire with dogs still inside in Glebe Road, Distington.

The crews found a kitchen well alight on arrival with one dog still inside the property.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the property and searched the ground floor while four firefighters in breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets to fight the fire.

“Two thermal imaging cameras were also in use, the dog was found and rescued.”
