Teenager charged after man stabbed in Workington

[O]fficers investigating an alleged assault in Firth View Walk, Workington, on Friday (24 March 2017) have charged an 18-year-old man with grievous bodily harm.

Police were called at around 4pm to a report of an assault taking place inside a property at Firth View Walk in Workington.

Officers arrived and gave first aid to a 31-year-old man who had suffered a suspected stab wound to the back.

He was then treated by paramedics at the scene and taken to Preston Hospital by air ambulance.

An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

Jonathan Winstanley, of Firth View Walk, Workington, has been charged with the offence and remanded in custody to attend North Cumbria (Carlisle) Magistrates’ Court on Monday 27 March.

The man injured in the incident remains in hospital in a serious, but stable condition

Nobody else is being sought in relation to this incident.

Anyone with information about this incident who has yet to come forward is asked to call Cumbria Constabulary on 101 quoting incident number 168 of 24 March 2017.
