Man’s body found in south Cumbria woods

[S]outh Cumbria police are conducting an investigation after a man’s body was discovered in a wooded area adjacent to a bridleway near Finsthwaite and Newby Bridge.

The incident was reported to police at 11:20am today, Sunday 2 April by a group of walkers.

Police and paramedics were sent to the scene and the man was declared dead at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Mike Wallace from South Cumbria CID said: “The man appeared to be elderly, aged at least 60-years of age.

“The circumstances of his death are currently unexplained.”

Cumbria Police are leasing with neighbouring forces in an effort to identity the man.

Anyone with information is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101.
