Man abused outside Carlisle church

[P]olice are investigating a hate crime incident where a man was verbally abused outside a Carlisle church.

The incident occurred on Saturday 1st April between 10.20pm and 10.45pm where a 23-year-old man was praying outside St John The Evangelist Church on Close Street. It is at this point where four unknown offenders, two males and two females, have subjected the man to religiously-motivated abuse.

The victim, was uninjured but understandably shaken by this incident.

Hate crime of any type will not be tolerated in Cumbria and police are making enquiries into tracing those responsible.
