Man dies after being rescued from West Cumbria harbour

A man has died after being rescued from Harrington Harbour in West Cumbria.

Cumbria Police were called shortly after 5pm yesterday, Monday 3 April to reports that a man had entered the sea at Harrington Harbour in Workington.

Police assisted a man from the water and he was treated by paramedics before being flown to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle in a critical condition.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “The man who was recovered from the water later died in hospital.

“The death is being treated as non-suspicious and the case has been passed to the Coroner,

“The man’s family have been informed.”

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the man enter the water to contact PC1905 Thompson on 101 quoting log 161 of 3 April.
