Two hurt in Shap quad bike crash

Nr Shap 1[T]wo people have been hurt in a road traffic collision near Shap.

Police were called at 5:10pm.

The collision involved a quad bike and trailer.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters released one casualty from underneath the quad bike.

“Both casualties were taken to hospital, one by air ambulance and one by land ambulance.

“The crews then made the scene safe.”

Nr Shap 2A spokesman for the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) said: “The GNAAS doctor-led trauma team treated a 26-year-old woman for potential arm and leg injuries before she was flown to hospital in Carlisle within 12 minutes.”

Police say their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The B6261 was closed between the A6 and M6 junction 39 but has now reopened.
