[P]olice are investigating a report of an attempted robbery in Carlisle today (16th April 2017).
A man entered Chutneys Indian takeaway on Wigton Road, Carlisle, at around 3:55pm, believed to have two knives, and asked a 44 year old staff member for money (a woman and three children under the age of 10 years old were also present). He then ran off from the scene without taking anything.
He is believed to have run off in the direction of Priory Road/Dowbeck Road area.
He is described as a white male, 5′ 8″ tall, aged around 25 years old, wearing a black jacket with a hood edged with brown fur, and wearing sunglasses.
DS Rob Ewin said: “We are working hard to locate the man responsible, and have dedicated team of officers investigating the incident. Thankfully no one was hurt in the incident, but the victims have understandably been left shaken by the ordeal. I would urge anyone who has any information or saw anything suspicious to get in touch and help us with our investigation.”
Police would like anyone who either lives in the area, or anyone who may have simply been in the area, to contact them if they witnessed either the incident or saw someone matching the description.
