Tarmacers Cold Calling In South Lakes

door chain[T]rading Standards are warning residents in Ambleside, Grasmere and the surrounding areas about traders cold calling and offering to conduct tarmacing work.

The traders often claim that they have excess material left over from a previous contract and ask consumers if they would like their driveway or pot holes filled.

Consumers should be extremely cautious when approached by any cold callers offering to conduct work on their property. These types of callers often use persuasive or aggressive tactics to get people to agree to have work carried out and then charge far more than was quoted for poor quality work or poor quality goods.

Trading Standards advice is to always say ‘NO’ to any cold callers and to look out for elderly or vulnerable friends, family and neighbours.

Trading Standards can be contacted via the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06 or by visiting www.adviceguide.org.uk. Alternatively you can contact the police on 101.
