[A] Workington man who stabbed a person in the chest last month has been jailed for seven and a half years.
John Wayne Conaway, aged 41, of Devonshire Street, Workington, was sentenced today (27th April) at Carlisle Crown Court for GBH.
The incident occurred shortly after 11pm on 16th March on Firth View Walk, Workington. Conaway stabbed a 32-year-old man in the chest with a knife following a disagreement over money.
Conaway admitted to the stabbing and possession of an offensive weapon at a hearing earlier this week.
Detective Constable Paul Hulse, West Cumbria CID, said: “This was a violent attack which Conaway deserves time in prison for.
“The victim was very fortunate not to have suffered more severe injuries.
“This type of violence will simply not be tolerated and we are pleased that Conaway is being taken out of society.”
