[D]icky Dippinson, aka ‘Dicky fra Shap’ has become somewhat of a Cumbrian legend, building up a reputation across the county, with rumours that he could be making an appearance on the current Britain’s Got Talent.
The singing farmer became an internet hit, with his You Tube video ‘Fresh Prince ot’ Shap’, and since taking to stand-up, Dicky now performs across Cumbria, returning to the George Hotel in Penrith for a second appearance.
Dicky commented, “Last time a waz at yon George h’tell it waz reet grand crack, an it waz a posh laal spot n’all. All’t folks theeyer seemed ter like wat a waz yakk’n on aboot, an nee body left wid tinnitus neether , so that’s allus a bit bonus!”
The comedy night at the George Hotel will take place on Saturday 13th May, hosted by local comedian and writer John Lebbon. The Cumbrian ex-rugby player has played host to shows across the region, catching the eye of Phoenix Nights star Dave Spikey, who worked with him on a comedy pilot.
Award-winning comedian Nina Gilligan will also take to the stage at this event; Nina has been on the comedy scene since 2011, she is now a regular on the UK circuit, and has been voted one of the funniest women in comedy today, making it as a finalist in the English Comedian of the Year in 2016.
The show on Saturday 13th May starts at 7pm, ticket prices also include a meal in the elegant Georgian Ballroom; with its minstrel’s gallery, ornate ceiling and chandeliers, is the perfect setting for such an occasion. Bookings must be made in advance by calling the hotel on 01768 862696.
