Cold callers targeting elderly residents in Penrith

[M]en in Ford Transit and Liveried Peugeot vans were cold calling in Penrith yesterday quoting for drive jet-washing and landscaping work – these vehicles had Irish number plates and when spoken to by police stated that they are in the county for the Appleby horse fair next month.

Officers urge residents never to engage with cold callers but to use local traders that you know and trust – they also ask that you keep an eye out for neighbours and relatives who may be vulnerable as some of these individuals can be very persuasive.

If you have any suspicions regarding vans or cold callers in your area to call 101 or email [email protected] and inform police.
