[A] MAN will go on trial later this year after denying an allegation of rape.

Ryan James Desmond O’Callaghan appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (FRI) to face three charges.

During a short hearing in front of Judge James Adkin, 22-year-old O’Callaghan pleaded not guilty to a charge of rape. This arises out of an alleged incident which is said to have occurred in the Aspatria area on December 31 last year.

O’Callaghan also denied two charges which allege that he twice assaulted the same female complainant, causing her actual bodily harm.

He will go on trial at the crown crown on November 6. In the meantime O’Callaghan, previously of Great Broughton was bailed to an address at Connaught Road, Cardiff.
