[O]ver 80 members of Wigton Motor Club greeted the editorial team of Practical Classics magazine when they visited Hartside café on Saturday May 6th.
The magazine team were doing a tour of the top classic cafés in the UK over a three-day period and Hartside was the one chosen for the north of England. It’s used regularly on classic car runs and by biker groups so it was a worthy contender.
PC’s editor, Danny Hopkins, said he was astounded at the number of cars that appeared to meet the team, particularly as they were running slightly behind schedule. The magazine’s photographer arranged the cars in a fan layout for photos which will appear in the next issue of the magazine.
Wigton Motor Club secretary, Graeme Forrester, said that they had only had six days’ notice of the event and the response from members had been much greater than expected. Members had enjoyed the run up to Hartside from both directions with members coming from both Cumbria, Lancashire and Northumberland.
The Hartside café were delighted with the influx in visitors late in the afternoon and the publicity that will come from the feature.
“Practical Classics” is the UK’s bestselling monthly magazine for classic and historic cars. Wigton Motor Club is the largest motorsport and classic car club in the north of England and promotes a full programme of motorsport, tours and social events.
