Police name couple killed in A76 motorcycle crash

[P]olice Scotland has released the names of the couple killed in the fatal road traffic collision on the A76 at Sanquhar on Sunday 28 May 2017.

They were John Cooper, 58 years and Sharon Cooper (56) from Gorleston, Great Yarmouth.

They were killed when their Harley Davidson motorcycle was in collision with a black Land Rover Freelander.

The collision occurred at around 1:15pm near to the road leading to Kellofoot Cottages, near Sanquhar.

Sergeant Bob McNay of the Trunk Roads Policing Unit at Lockerbie said: “As a result of this tragic collision the road was closed for nearly eight hours while officers carried out a full crash scene investigation.

“We are still appealing for witnesses to this collision and would ask that anyone who can help call Police Scotland at Lockerbie on the 101 number.”
