[C]ockermouth Mountain Rescue Team was called on 31st May 2017 at 12.45pm to a 65-year-old male walker from Cockermouth who was suffering from severe chest pain on the Whiteside / Hopegill Head ridge above Lanthwaite Green.
A spokesman for Cockermouth MRT said: “Due to the potential serious nature of the call and the remoteness of the location a Coastguard S92 rescue helicopter was immediately requested by the team leader.
“The team ascended Whiteside from Lanthwaite Green, the first members arriving on scene at 1:55pm with Rescue Helicopter 999 from Prestwick arriving and landing nearby shortly afterwards.
“The casualty’s condition was treated and monitored and he was stretchered to the helicopter and flown to Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle.”
