[A] CANNABIS dealer who sold the drug to fund her long-standing habit has been sent to prison.
Eileen Mulgrew, 37, was jailed for 28 weeks at Carlisle Crown Court having admitted possessing the class B substance with intent to supply it.
Police swooped on her home at The Crofts, Silloth, on November 25. Around £1,800 worth of cannabis – including ready-bagged deals – was recovered.
Two wraps had been tossed out of a window as officers arrived.
Nearly £2,000 cash was also seized, along with a mobile phone containing evidence of drug dealing.
It was said that Mulgrew – a daily cannabis smoker for 20 years – had only supplied a small group of friends, and was both “liked” and “respected” within her community.
But Recorder Ahmed Nadim concluded she had operated an illegal “marketplace” for a “commercial advantage to anyone who may have cared to contact her”.
