[A] Carlisle man has failed to appear before the city’s magistrates court charged with begging in public.
Malcolm John Nicholson, 32, was found guilty in his absence.
The court was told he had been seen begging and receiving money from members of the public, while sitting under the arches near the Citadel station on March 28.
Court papers show he has an address on Lightfoot Drive, Carlisle.
He was fined £120 with court costs of £85 and a victims surcharge of £30.
