Armed police arrest Carlisle man after Botcherby Avenue incident

police-armed-gun-2[A] Carlisle man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm following an incident at a property on Botcherby Avenue.

Police were contacted at 8.54am today (14th June) in connection with the incident and armed officers were deployed to scene as a precautionary measure.

A 45-year-old man is helping officers with their enquiries.

Police would like to reassure that at no time was there any perceived threat to the public and would also like to thank them for their patience.

Police would also like to reassure members of the public that this was not a terrorism-related incident.

Enquiries are ongoing and the road has been reopened.
