[O]rganisers are keeping their fingers crossed for the weather this weekend, as the final preparations are made for the Keswick Midsummer Festival this weekend, 23rd to 25th June.
Keswick Midsummer Festival is in its 5th year, the events change from year to year, but the aim is the same, to give something back to the residents of Keswick.
Keswick Town Council, via its event committee, organise the festival each year. With the hope that everyone will find something to enjoy. The three events on offer this year give a good variety of choice and all are free to attend.
Friday night is Rock night in the Market Square, with a selection of locally based bands followed by the tribute act Queen II. Once the music in the square finishes, the entertainment continues in many of the local pubs who are playing host to some talented local artists.
On Saturday attention switches to the classical, with our very own Prom in the Park. Enjoy an afternoon and evening of classical music in the lovely surroundings of Fitz Park. Bring your own picnic and relax in the sunshine.
Finally, on Sunday Scruffs Fun Dog Show returns to Fitz Park for its 4th year. With over 20 classes to enter with some fantastic prizes on offer, there’s something for everyone. Entries cost £3 per dog/per class, but the show itself is free to watch. As well as the judging there will be a variety of market stalls, and fairground rides. In addition this year there will be two demonstrations of Medieval Combat in the show ring.
All of these events are made possible not just because of the Town Council, but with the help of Allerdale Borough Council, Geraud Markets, Grapevine, Treeby & Bolton, Lake District Hotels and Podgy Paws. In addition Keswick Lions will be providing support throughout the weekend.
