[M]embers of Barrow’s St Paul’s CE Junior School choir lent their voices in support of Bay Hospitals Charity’s Bayb’s Maternity Appeal by entertaining staff, patients and visitors to Furness General Hospital.
The children performed a repertoire of favourite songs in the hospital foyer, accompanied by teachers Mrs Marie Last, Mr Rus Thompson and Mrs Amy Doyle, who helped them take up a bucket collection for the appeal, which is funding “extras” for the new maternity unit being built there.
These ”extras” fall outside the remit of what the NHS is able to fund but have been added to a shopping list of items, all designed to make the unit second to none in the country while giving it a real home from home feel for local families and for newborns, the best possible start in life.
