[A] CARLISLE man spared prison earlier this year for a “dreadful” domestic attack has now been locked up after committing a knife crime.
Cyril Greer, 34, was handed a suspended 21-month prison sentence in January. He admitted assaulting Wendy Jones, who was left “bleeding profusely” after Greer punched and head-butted her during an angry late night outburst in September.
But Greer was back at Carlisle Crown Court today (WED). He admitted illegally possessing a craft knife in public, in the city centre in April, and was jailed for a total of 31 months.
Greer, of Dalton Avenue, Carlisle, was said to have a “prolific” and “intense” criminal record featuring scores of offences – including previous possession of an offensive weapon.
Judge Davies reminded him he had been given a “last chance” in January, and said of his most recent crime: “It is a knife. It can cause injury. It is serious.”
