A Barrow man is now behind bars for stabbing another man in the head with a pair of scissors.
Daniel Barker, 25, of Anchor Road, was sentenced to 10 years and 9 months in prison at Preston Crown Court yesterday (July 3), after previously pleading guilty to wounding with intent and being in possession of an offensive weapon.
The incident happened on Harrison Street on October 12th of last year, when Barker stabbed the victim four times in the head and twice in the back. The injured man was taken to Furness General Hospital before being flown to the Royal Preston Hospital for further treatment.
DC Mandy Stables said: “I am pleased that Barker will now pay for what he did, after handing himself in at Barrow Police Station. Unfortunately his victim has been left with permanent scarring, however, he is very lucky to be alive after suffering the injuries he did.
“Cumbria Police will not tolerate violence, and this attack, on the streets of Barrow in broad daylight, was completely unacceptable.”
