[A] DRUG dealer who travelled by bike as he tried to peddle his illegal wares on the streets of Carlisle has been locked up for almost four years.
Stephen James Earle, 31, was seen by police during the day, on June 7, to be cycling around residential city roads near a group of known drug users.
Earle was stopped by an officer at Fusehill Street. Carlisle Crown Court heard he had 16 rocks of crack cocaine and 25 wraps of heroin hidden in his jacket pocket.
These had a combined estimated street value of more than £400.
Earle, of no fixed address, was jailed by a judge today (FRI) for three years and nine months. He had admitted possessing both class A drugs with intent to supply, and having a small quality of cannabis.
It was said the debt-ridden addict had been sent from Merseyside to sell illicit substances and fund his own habit.
Recorder Michael Murray said drugs were “one of society’s great problems”, and told Earle: “You were part of that in peddling these awful substances to people.”
