Police probe disability hate crime on Carlisle bus

[P]olice are investigating a hate incident reported to have happened in Carlisle.

The incident occurred on Thursday (July 6th), on the number 62 Stagecoach bus from ASDA in Kingstown, running into the city, at around 3.15pm.

It has been reported that youths – two males in their late teens – shouted at a male on the bus before sitting behind him, causing him to feel distressed. The 30-year-old male believed he was targeted due to his disability.

This is reported to be the second incident of this nature on the same bus, involving the two youths and the victim.

Anyone witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact PC 2221 Brownrigg on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
