[B]raithwaite School portrayed a story of love, competition, robbery and fray in a performance of ‘Hoodwinked’, a version of Robin Hood.
Last week on Wednesday the 5th July, Braithwaite School pupils performed their ‘End of Year’ play to a packed hall of family and friends at the Braithwaite Institute.
Every pupil took part in the production with Reception, Year One and Year Two as ‘Little Friars’, Year Three and Year Four children as dancers and acrobats and many Year Five and Six children performing a solo or as part of a small group.
Members of the Allerdale Community Players worked with the children to help them gain new skills and confidence in performing as well as helping to choreograph, provide stage management and direct the show. The pupils also attended Drama Club each Friday to work as a team and put the production together.
Jo Laker, Head Teacher of Braithwaite School said: “The event was a great opportunity to see our mission statement ‘Learning together, growing together’ in action and we were so proud of all the children, particularly those who were brave in taking on a speaking or singing part.”
Alongside providing a delightful evening of entertainment, the event also raised money for a school visit to Jump Mania and a donation towards the Early Years outdoor development project.
