Update: Dean Kerr was arrested yesterday (July 19) in the Carlisle area and has been returned to prison.
A prisoner is wanted by police after absconding from jail.
Dean Kerr, 29, formerly of Stonegarth, Carlisle, went missing from HMP Kirkham on Saturday (July 15).
Kerr was given a 36 month prison sentence at North and West Cumbria Magistrates in October for two offences of handling stolen goods.
He is described as white, 5ft 11in tall, of medium build. He has a tattoo on his left arm with the word ‘Guvnor’.
The 29-year-old has links to Cumbria as well as Tyne and Wear.
Police are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact officers.
A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “We are appealing for information about a wanted man who has absconded from prison.
“Dean Kerr left HMP Kirkham on Saturday and has failed to return.
“Kerr is a violent offender and we are urging people not to approach him. If you have seen him, or know where he is, please call police immediately.”
